May 23 marked an important milestone in Vietnam’s development when over 69 million voters cast ballots to elect deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and People’s Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 term.
In an interview with the Vietnam News Agency’s correspondents in the country on the occasion of the elections of deputies to the 15th NA and People’s Councils at all levels, Vietnamese expatriates in Germany commended the contributions by the 14th-tenure National Assembly to the national development, and pinned high hopes on the new parliament.
The elections of deputies to the 15th National Assembly (NA) and People's Councils at all levels for the 2021-2026 tenure was a comprehensive success as it took place democratically and in line with legal regulations, said Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra.
Preliminary reports show that 95.65 percent of voters nationwide went to the polls by 17:30 on May 23 to elect deputies to the 15th National Assembly and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 term.
At polling stations, voters are divided into different groups based on their residence areas to avoid large gatherings and spread of the Covid-19 epidemic.
